Bloganuary Prompt #20: What is your favorite photo you’ve ever taken?

My most favorite photo is of my beloved Border Collie Bess.

This beautiful creature epitomised pure joy.

Border Collies are dedicated workers with laser focus no matter the task at hand. For nearly 15 years, Bess considered watching over us and catching Frisbees to be her job. She excelled in every way possible and is still dearly missed after her passing 2.5 years ago…

  1. So nice to hear from you MisaeMich. Yes, from Lassie to Bess and all in between, there’s something extra special I think about Collies — any variation. I hope it won’t be too long until you, or I, can have another one delighting our lives. 🙂 🐶❤️🙏🏼

  2. Hi WG,
She’s very beautiful & she’s in forever peace now. You are lucky, you have Bess & now she’s watching over you. 😇

Collies are one of my favorite breed which I wish I’ll have to. I really love dogs, but for this time can’t have my own yet. Hopefully that time will come & to live the life with unconditional love by lovely furries. 🐶❤️🙏🏼

  3. In actuality, Millie (the cat) came along when Bess was about 2…and Bess passed 2.5 years ago (at 14.5 years). So, although, there was a 2 year span in between their arrival and passing it doesn’t feel like it was even that long in between. I am confident the right one will come along. And in looking at the gift in everything — the temps are so frigid right now, I am relieved I’m not outside walking my new bud (just yet). 🙂

  4. Oh, how frustrating! There is one out there somewhere for you. He just has to find you ❤️ And I didn’t realize you lost both so close together. That is so sad. I can still get tears in my eyes thinking about my kitties. 😢

  5. Yes, and the vet said that Bess will send the right one to us at the right time. I was disappointed to not qualify for a rescue dog because, as with the divisiveness in the country over mandates, they did not like my natural but healthy protocol of getting titers rather than vaccines… 😮

  6. Yes, I needed proper grieving time and to preserve her memory I suppose. What timing, though, to lose both during these strange times as pets do seem to make the world go away.

And since I can never replace Bess, and I’m getting older, I’m considering a smaller (but not yappy canine companion). Two darling West Highland Scottish Terriers have stolen my heart on my walks so I’ve just begun learning about that breed. I know the right one will come along at the right time.

  7. Oh, I’m so sorry you lost your cat recently 😢 I had two sister cats that I had for 19 years, I had to put them down a month apart (I knew that would happen). 13 years ago (right after I lost those two) I got two more buddy cats (off Craig’s list). I lost the boy cat a couple of years ago, but still have the girl cat. She’s got to be about 15, but just had a good check up at the vets. When we lose her, I don’t know what we’ll do. It’s so much easier to travel without having to arrange care. But I so enjoy her company. I think you should give another pet a home with you 😊 It brought me comfort when I got these two.

  8. Thank you, Lisa, for your very kind and thoughtful comment. Yes, I still miss Bess…(and every time her photo pops up which is often). My heart has been longing lately for another canine companion. (We lost our cat 2 weeks ago who grew up with Bess.) There is nothing like their unconditional and generous offer of love, acceptance and joy. Do you have other pets now?

  9. Oh, what a sweet sweet photo! After losing 3 cats as an adult, I know the sorrow and sadness that you feel. It never totally goes away. Animals love unconditionally and thrive on our love and attention. I believe there is a special place in heaven just for them! (Well, and us when we get there!) ❤
