Nature Teacher: Never Assume

There’s an old adage about never assume. It affects Mother Nature too. I don’t know about you but for me this past Winter was one of the best I remember in years — weather wise of course.

The first snowfall was late and not heavy. Intermittent warmer days punctuated Winter’s biting, bitter cold. A reprieve here and there eased months of trudging on the usually endless grey road to Spring.

Dwarf iris jumped ahead of the calendar’s official indication of Spring last week yet daffodils were just as surprised as me to awake to snow this morning.

This upside down world of who knows what’s next plays games with Mother Nature too. Just another reminder to use discernment rather than readily assume truth in what we are told.
